Friday night I was a very fortunate guest of the wonderful people at Simon & Schuster Australia at the Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIA) in the glittering heart of our tartiest capital city, Sydney. ...more

While I’m on questions I consistently get asked (see Virginity and other disappointments), there is another fairly personal In the bedroom question that keeps raising its nosey head. It’s a question that no one would dare ask under usual circumstances (unless they were a very close friend or really drunk or both). ...more

Did you know that Australia is home to some very fabulous and talented erotic romance writers? These women are punching well above their weight in the international e-book market and have pooled their substantial talents to produce a delicious anthology on food and sex. Aside from the fact it’s a great theme for an anthology, knowing you are feasting on all Australian fare makes it all the more satisfying. ...more

Imagine this. You are talking to someone who is an acquaintance and, after listening to a short synopsis about your new book, they lean in close to your ear and whisper – ‘So, is that how you lost your virginity?’ ...more

Release Day - it's like a birthday for books. And I've been like a kid before Christmas for the past few days, unable to sleep for sheer excitement at seeing my baby hit the bookshelves. If my blog supported video, right now you'd be looking at a visual of me in my car saying 'Hi, I'm Kate Belle and today is a very exciting day for me because my first book, The Yearning, hits the bookshelves. ...more

I found this a tough and compelling read, and I'm still grappling with mixed feelings about it. Not Your Ordinary Housewife is a gruelling, and funny, and shocking, and, at its heart, a tragic love story. Nikki was once one of Australia's foremost porn queen's, loved and revered by thousands of men who wrote her intimate letters, swooned over her raunchy photos and videos, and masturbated endlessly to the fragrance of her used underwear. ...more

There must be something wrong with me. I don’t go squeamish when I hear the word ‘vagina’. Or any of the other anatomical references to female genitalia (vulva, labia, clitoris etc etc). Nor do I feel in any way shocked or offended when the words penis, testes or glans fall into a conversation (in context). But apparently I am an exception. ...more

Please allow me to step aside from the sexy stuff for a moment . . . I'm lucky. For a lot of reasons. Today I'm lucky because I'm holding a real, 3 dimensional copy of my soon-to-be-released book, The Yearning, in my hand. (Ebooks are all very well, but there is nothing to compare with the physical artifact). A book I was able to write because I'm literate, compliments of the Australian government school system. ...more

The last time I read historical romance I was in my teen's. Trust me, that was a damned long time ago. I had glandular fever at the time and devoured Jane Austin and Georgette Heyer with a gusto saved only for the confined and the restless. My time of historical romance over indulgence had a similar effect on me to that of my first massive drinking session involving Tequila - too much of a good thing can leave one with a hangover that lasts a lifetime. ...more

What's a girl's blog without a little blatant self promotion? And what better reason to shout to the rooftops than the release of my first novel in ebook form. The Yearning hit iPad's, Kindles, and Kobos in odd little spots here and there around the country today and I'm DAMNED EXCITED, I can tell you. For those who prefer the physical artefact (I'm with you there, I still like my print books more), the print version will be released around Aust/NZ on 1 May - and I can't wait!!! ...more

I’ve discovered a website/blog that makes me think I should just shut up shop and go home. Masterminded by Jane, who lives in a quintessential flowery English cottage where a Laura Ashley bomb went off, the blog everything I was aiming to do with Ecstasy Files but with taste (never been my strong point). ...more

I recently raised a question to erotic fiction authors on a panel at the Australian Romance Readers Convention in Brisbane. Do you choose to be ‘out’ as an erotic fiction writer and if not, why? The responses were varied and fascinating. ...more

Whenever someone asks my beloved 'So, what does she write?', he invariably responds, 'Smut. Filth.' Then giggles like a stoopid school boy. Sigh. One of the things an out erotic fiction writer (and there are plenty of them still in the closet, believe me) must face are the inevitable 'Wink, wink, nudge, nudge's' ... ...more

So Valentines day is over. Did you survive it? Are you suffering from a 'love hangover' - you know, too many chocolates and kisses? Or was it just another day to remind you that hearts and flowers are for schmaltzy cards and not real life? ...more

Since I hit the big '40' I've avoided any references to my age. When asked I simply reply 'I'm on the wrong side of 40.' It gets a laugh and stops any further enquiries dead in their tracks. Why? Because I liked being young. Youth made me feel desirable and fit and ready for romance whenever it came along. As age has crept up on me I've tried to hold on to that carefree sexual confidence that came with being twenty something and stubbornly refused to look (or, some would argue, act) my age. ...more

I'm reblogging this not because I'm lazy (although that is one of my failings). I'm reblogging because today is my official debut as an author and my first official appearance as an author will be at the very exciting Australian Romance Readers Conference in Brisbane in March - so I couldn't say it any better than it's said here. And there'll be plenty of new stuff in all the Pillow Talk blog posts as I travel around cyber-land getting to know new readers. ...more

On January 4 I posted the beginning of this extract from Breaking the Rules. I love this scene so much I thought today I’d give you just a little bit more of Ramon’s seduction of Grace. I love the way he approaches her slowly, careful not to startle, binding her in an aura of sensuality, hypnotising her. She’s trying so hard to resist him, to let her prudishness control the situation, but she is helpless. ...more
