My previous post (Censorship no excuse for misogyny) has generated some robust discussion on the issue of whether Melbourne International Comedy Festival can be held in any way accountable for including Jim Jefferies' misogynist show on their bill.
Never let it be said I don’t know my place. By my sheer misfortune of being born with a vagina, I know I should just shut the hell up and not post this hysterical, bitchy rant about Jim Jefferies and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. I should just take Jefferies misogynist jokes on the chin – like a nice submissive Eve.
But fuck you, Jim Jefferies and MICF. I’m not Eve, and you just started a fight you won’t win.
Welcome back to the boudoir. The sultry atmosphere is set for a cosy pillow chat with one of my favourite people and authors who has just released a new book and has a fab freebie on offer. Snuggle up because today we are in bed with Eden Summers, author of A Shot of Sin.
Are you comfy, Hun? I'll go easy on you, I promise. So tell us, what’s the hardest thing about writing a sexual relationship into a story?
I joined Instragram this week.
...whyilovemelbourne...(in case you’d like to join me.)
I joined because I love sharing photos of the quirky, interesting city I live in. And sharing them on my Fakebook page is pointless because FAKEBOOK will only share it with 3 my 1021 close personal friends, unless I pay for the privilege of spreading it further.
I had the very great privilege to attend the closing Chiron Centre Conference a couple of weekends ago. Chiron Centre? What the?
Trust me. It’s special. This is why.
Among the very many things I’ve studied in my life, one of the more left field subjects is astrology. Not the ‘should I get out of bed today?’ daily stars kind, but a much deeper system based on human psychology and development. Are you smirking? ‘Course you are.
For some 2014 has been difficult - crappy even. Talking to those who have done it tough makes me feel like I dodged a bullet this year. Maybe I got time off for good behaviour. I had a few crappy years in a row, so maybe this year was my turn off the fortune-of-hell-wheel. Or maybe I just got lucky.
IN BED WITH...
Welcome back to the boudoir. You know the drill, it's sultry, it's sexy and just a teeny bit naughty in here. Crawl under the cover with me and discover someting new about Juanita Kees, author of Under Cover of Dark (book 2 in the Tag Raiders series).
In the aftermath of recent news in Australia of the discovery of an abandoned baby and the subsequent crucifying of his mother for the cruelty of the act, I’ve been feeling heart heavy and reflective.
Every now and then something or someone stumbles across our path that changes us. At the time it feels like an accident, a random act of the universe. Looking back on these moments with hindsight, however, they begin to look more like destiny.
