I adore stories of people following their passion around the globe and today's In Bed With guest has a ripper story. Plus a first kiss story with an older man I think we can all relate to. Glue your eyes on the screen and welcome Alli Sinclair...

I received a letter the other day from an older woman expressing her disappointment at the ‘explicit descriptions of sensual activities’ in my book, The Yearning. It was the second time that week my writing had been labelled ‘porn’. It saddened me because people lump all sex writing in one shameful basket. All sex writing isn't the same and I wish people would stop trying to make it so.

Having returned on a high from the annual Australian Romance Writers Conference I wanted to write a post that captured the essence of the event. But how to give it the credit it's due? Most people think romance is all gushy and fluffy hearts and flowers. Yet this conference a huge and professional event. So I thought, go to the source - what better way to tell the story of a conference experience than through Tweets...

Being Jade, my second novel, has been out for 2 months and the reviews are nothing short of stunning. I'm still pinching myself that Being Jade has been so well received. Even people who hate it are giving it a good rating because it made them feel so much, which is, I believe, what a good book should do.

Launching a book is a bit like christening a baby. It’s a welcome to the world, a blessing, a celebration, an expression of gratitude from the author to the community of people who supported the birth of the book. I am told by my many author friends that a launch is as essential to the release of a new book as a family gathering is essential to the welcoming of a new family member.

The final hurdle for my babe in arms manuscript (aside from the last round of edits, the acknowledgements, the promo plan and the cover) was the title. I sensed my original title Saint wasn’t quite right for the story but I was at a loss to come up with an alternative.

This month we are in bed with fabulous and fascinating Regency and steampunk erotica author, Suzi Love. And her first kiss story is so sweet it will melt in your mind.

Part 5 of my Journey to Jade series is all about light bulb moments - the 'Eureka' of solving a gnarly problem in the plot and the 'You want me to do WHAT?' of the editing process.

In the fourth of my Journey to Jade series I talk about courage, the power of writers groups and the power of story. Last week I explained how I jumped a big mental hurdle thanks to a bit of art therapy. While this got me writing again, I was still up against a complex plot with some gnarly character problems that needed sorting out. And I was still being dogged by those nasty spooks, Doubt and Fear.

With 'Saint' contracted and a deadline looming, I now had no choice but to keep writing. But... Banjo was dead. Jade was comatose. And I had no idea who Lissy was. Or why I’d chosen to write this particular story. The bar I'd set for myself seemed insurmountable. I felt like I was on a one way path to literary oblivion. Then art therapy arrived...

Being Jade, for many reasons, is the most difficult piece of work I’ve ever written. It began as a challenge and over three years of writing, never changed. In the run up to its release, I thought it might be fun to share some of the ups and downs of my journey with this intriguing story, beginning with the character at its heart – Jade. This is what she looked like in her first draft.

Sound the trumpets! I'm proud, excited, relieved to announce Being Jade, my second novel, will be released 1 June 2014. And for you, my precious readers, I have a wonderful surprise. The cover and blurb, freshly released from the publisher! You'll have to wait until next week to sneak a peak at a sample teaser from the book. And stay tuned for a competition to be announced soon. x

‘Erotica can change the world, I really believe that.’ This statement was issued with conviction by my fellow panelist, Krissy Kneen, last Wednesday night during The Wheeler’s Centre Sex in Words event. Sounds crazy, right? How can erotica change anything, let alone the world? It’s just writing about sex, isn’t it? Maybe. Then again, maybe not.

Do you remember your first ride on a roller coaster? The anticipation and stomach dropping descent? Being a first time author is just as exhilarating! And terrifying. As the release of my second novel, Being Jade, draws near, I'm reflecting on how my debut, The Yearning, fared, and the picture ain't too shabby. She's been nominated for Best Erotic Romance with the Australian Romance Readers Association (voting open now) and has made it to a few notable Top 10 Reads for 2013.

Like a stage show, much goes on behind the scenes when writing a book. (Panic. Then there's doubt, fear and more panic.) Jennifer Scoullar, my good friend and fellow Little Lonsdale Writers Group member, has tagged me in this fascinating blog chain where writers reveal their behind the scenes processes. Is it all smoke and mirrors?

It's 'Hasta manana, Baby' for Ramon. The Master of Love is about to go underground for the next few months while I work on a fresh direction for him.

My top reads for 2013, a year of reading Australian women writers and stretching my usual boundaries. If only someone can teach me to read faster!

Voyeurism, bestiality, incest. Not standard fare for most of us when it comes to erotic fiction. These are the themes in each of the three linked erotic stories in Krissy Kneen’s Triptych: an erotic adventure. Don't forget your sense of humour!

It’s quirky, interesting, a little bit challenging and a whole lot of fun. Saucy is an inspired combination of erotic spoken word and unique plus-size burlesque. An event to whet many appetites.

Apologies for my absence. I've been frantic the last couple of weeks with finishing a rough draft of my second novel and attending the annual Romance Writers of Australia conference in Fremantle Perth. I have returned to the desk after a fortnight feeling somewhat dazed and confused because during my week in the West I fell in love with so much - music, art, words, people - I think I'm suffering in-love-brain-fry.
